Daniel van der Weide, a professor at the Grainger Institute for Engineering, has been elected to The American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering's (AIMBE) 2026 College of Fellows. This election honors individuals who have made significant contributions to engineering and medical research. Van der Weide's work focuses on innovative applications of high-frequency electronics, particularly in surgical navigation and percutaneous ablation therapies, significantly enhancing patient care. His research spans the development of high-frequency tools for tumor ablation and functional imaging, as well as advanced semiconductor devices for quantum computing. Over his career, he has received multiple accolades, including an NSF Presidential Early Career Award and a DARPA Outstanding Individual Technical Achievement Award. He is also a fellow of IEEE and has co-founded several companies, including Neuwave Medical, Inc. Van der Weide was inducted alongside 175 new fellows during AIMBE's annual meeting in April 2026 in Arlington, Virginia.
