In a significant drug bust, Sukhwinder Singh, a resident of Phulera village in Sangrur district, Punjab, was apprehended by the Criminal Investigation Agency (CIA) team of Fatehabad police in Hisar. The police acted on a tip-off and intercepted a suspicious combine harvester near the new bus stand area, where they discovered 1.018 kg of opium and 109.58 kg of poppy husk packed in three sacks. The drugs were seized and sealed on-site, along with the combine harvester and a motorcycle. During initial questioning, Singh admitted to procuring the contraband from Madhya Pradesh for distribution. A case has been registered against him under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and further investigations are underway to uncover other individuals involved in the trafficking network.
