Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta reassured residents that the supply of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) in the capital is stable, with 1,30,094 cylinders delivered on April 12 against 1,11,766 bookings. This reflects effective backlog clearance and a robust supply chain. The average delivery time has improved from 4.24 days to 3.87 days, ensuring timely service. Gupta noted that Delhi has been allocated 6,480 LPG cylinders daily, while the average consumption has been only 4,268 cylinders, indicating that supply is currently exceeding demand. Gupta urged commercial consumers, particularly those using 5 kg cylinders, to avoid panic and stockpiling. The Food and Civil Supplies department has set up a control room for assistance, and consumers are encouraged to consider switching to piped natural gas (PNG) for reliability. Additionally, the government is promoting electric or induction cooking as a long-term solution for energy access. Gupta emphasized that her administration is monitoring the situation closely to maintain uninterrupted LPG supply.
