Filmmaker Muzaffar Ali is mourning the loss of renowned playback singer Asha Bhosle, who passed away recently. Bhosle's contribution to Ali's award-winning film 'Umrao Jaan' (1981) earned her a National Award for Best Playback Singer for the song 'Dil Cheez Kya Hai.' Ali reflects on her unique ability to embody the character through her music, stating, 'Umrao Jaan has lost its entire voice.' He recalls the emotional connection they shared during the recording sessions, noting that Bhosle had tears in her eyes when she heard the unreleased songs they recorded for his ambitious project 'Zuni' in the late 1980s. These five songs, which have remained unheard for nearly four decades, are set to be revived as Ali's son, Shaad Ali, works on the project. Ali fondly remembers his last visit to Bhosle's home, where she treated him to her delicious kebabs, cherishing every moment spent with her. He emphasizes that her passing is not only a significant loss for the music industry but also a personal one for him.
