A tragic incident occurred on Friday afternoon when a tourist boat capsized in the Yamuna River near Vrindavan in Mathura district, Uttar Pradesh, leading to the deaths of at least six individuals and leaving several others missing. The boat was reportedly carrying over two dozen tourists from Punjab when it was struck by strong winds, causing it to sway violently and collide with a pontoon bridge before overturning. District Magistrate Chandra Prakash Singh confirmed that six bodies have been recovered, and 16 to 17 people have been rescued. Rescue operations are currently underway, involving the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), and around 50 local divers. Eyewitness accounts indicate that the boat's speed increased dramatically before the collision. Senior officials, including the district magistrate and superintendent of police, are present at the scene to oversee the rescue efforts.
