In preparation for the Char Dham Yatra, Uttarakhand's Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan convened a meeting with District Magistrates and oil company representatives to ensure a reliable supply of LPG. With the tourism season approaching, Bardhan stressed the importance of maintaining an uninterrupted supply of commercial LPG cylinders for hotels and restaurants. He directed oil companies to prioritize clearing any backlog in domestic LPG supplies and to streamline distribution to avoid inconveniences for citizens. To address the anticipated increase in demand, Bardhan has requested the Government of India to maintain the state's commercial LPG allocation at 100% from April to November, along with an additional 5% for disaster preparedness. The state estimates a need for approximately 967,949 commercial cylinders during the travel season. An ongoing enforcement drive has led to 5,934 inspections, resulting in the seizure of 864 domestic and 168 commercial cylinders, as well as several arrests to combat illegal activities.
