In a significant development for international travel, VFS Global has launched Odisha's first visa application centre (VAC) in Bhubaneswar. Inaugurated by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, the centre is situated at the Baba Saheb Ambedkar Bus Terminal, the largest bus terminal in Odisha, covering 11 acres and handling over 20,000 passengers daily. This facility will allow residents to apply for visas without needing to travel to distant cities like Kolkata or New Delhi, thus saving both time and travel costs. Initially, the VAC will process visa applications for 10 countries, including the United Kingdom and Italy, with plans for future expansion based on demand. Chief Minister Majhi emphasized the importance of this facility in enhancing Odisha's global connectivity and supporting citizen-centric services. The centre will also provide value-added services such as application assistance and document verification, aimed at simplifying the process for first-time travellers. The establishment of this VAC reflects a growing demand for accessible visa services and is expected to strengthen Odisha’s global mobility infrastructure while creating job opportunities for local youth.
