North Western Railway, based in Jaipur, Rajasthan, has announced several initiatives to facilitate smoother travel for passengers during the peak summer vacation period. From April 3, the railway will operate holiday special trains until July 15 and has added extra coaches to many long-distance trains to address the high passenger load. Chief Public Relations Officer Amit Sudarshan noted that these measures aim to alleviate the challenge of obtaining confirmed reservation tickets during this busy season. Additionally, the frequency of trains has been increased to further accommodate travelers. In a broader effort to enhance passenger experience, the Railways is also developing dedicated holding areas at 76 stations across India, equipped with modern amenities to reduce platform congestion. A model holding area has already been established at the New Delhi Railway Station, featuring facilities such as seating, drinking water, toilets, and security checks. These enhancements are designed to ensure safety and comfort for passengers, making travel more convenient during the summer rush.
