Montreal police (Service de police de la Ville de Montréal, SPVM) have arrested four suspects in connection with a counterfeit currency scheme. The suspects, aged between 18 and 22, are accused of distributing counterfeit bills and using them to purchase electronic goods, primarily smartphones and laptops. Investigations revealed that they communicated through various social media accounts and often paid with counterfeit $100 bills that shared the same serial number. The police conducted three separate investigations, leading to the arrests of the suspects in different neighborhoods, including Ahuntsic–Cartierville and Rivière-des-Prairies–Pointe-aux-Trembles. During these operations, police seized more than $16,200 in counterfeit Canadian currency and additional evidence. The suspects have been released and will face court proceedings, with charges to be determined by the Crown prosecutor.
