In a bid to enhance oversight of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) distribution, the Delhi government has prohibited the sale of cylinders directly from storage godowns, labeling it illegal. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta emphasized that this measure aims to improve transparency in the supply chain and curb black marketing. Oil marketing companies and distributors are mandated to deliver LPG only through the authorized home delivery system. To support these changes, the government has set up a control room to monitor supply and tackle hoarding, alongside operational helplines for citizens to report irregularities. Additionally, 5-kg LPG cylinders are now available for purchase without address verification, particularly benefiting migrant workers. The government has also established 11 help desks at select Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) outlets to streamline access to LPG distributors. Authorities have reassured residents that LPG supply remains stable, with average delivery turnaround times just over four days, despite global fuel supply concerns.
