The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has inaugurated a significant electric vehicle (EV) charging station at Anand Vihar along the Delhi-Meerut Namo Bharat corridor. This facility, touted as the largest on the route, is equipped with 10 high-voltage charging units, each capable of delivering 480 kW of power, allowing up to 10 vehicles to charge simultaneously. The station can charge four-wheelers to about 80% in approximately 30 minutes. Users can manage the charging process through the 'ElectreeFi' mobile application, which is available on the Google Play Store. This app facilitates the booking of charging slots, real-time monitoring, and digital payments. With this new addition, charging services are now available at eight stations along the corridor, including Sahibabad, Guldhar, and Meerut South. The NCRTC aims to alleviate range anxiety among EV users and promote the adoption of electric vehicles. Additionally, NCRTC's Managing Director, Shalabh Goel, emphasized the agency's commitment to sustainability, aiming to fulfill 50% of its power requirements through renewable energy sources in the next five to six years. The Delhi-Meerut Namo Bharat corridor, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in February, spans 82 km and was developed at a cost of ₹30,000 crore (approximately $3.6 billion USD), significantly reducing travel time between the two cities.
