Bondi's removal from the Department of Justice (DOJ) was attributed to a lack of progress on key Trump campaign promises, including the prosecution of Trump's political adversaries. Habba, who has worked closely with Trump since 2021, shared a post on social media expressing her honor at the opportunity to serve. Despite her efforts, Habba's legal credentials have faced scrutiny, particularly given her law school’s low national ranking. Trump is reportedly considering multiple candidates for the position, including Habba and Jeanine Pirro, while appointing Todd Blanche as the acting head of the DOJ. Bondi, who had asked for a more graceful exit, is the second high-profile official to be dismissed in Trump's renewed administration, following the ousting of DHS Secretary Kristi Noem.
