Egmore railway station in Chennai is set to receive a new footover bridge (FOB) by June, located at the Chetpet end. This bridge will include lifts and escalators, facilitating easier movement across the station's 11 platforms. The existing FOB at the Chennai Park end is currently the only corridor connecting the platforms, but its limited access has been a concern, especially after the reopening of platforms 10 and 11 for suburban train services. The new FOB aims to reduce congestion at the station, as commuters have been relying on a single bridge for nearly a year. Railway officials have assured that this new structure will integrate with a rooftop plaza under redevelopment. Additionally, temporary ramps will be installed to maintain accessibility for persons with disabilities. EMU services will experience full and partial cancellations during specific hours until April 7.
