In a troubling incident in Vein Puin village, Tarn Taran district, Punjab, Baldev Singh, the village sarpanch, along with five associates, has been booked for allegedly setting fire to the homes of two Scheduled Caste families. The event occurred on Tuesday night, reportedly as a revenge act following a minor dispute involving the sarpanch's family. According to the complaint filed by Dalbir Kaur, one of the victims, Singh and his associates entered her home armed with weapons, poured petrol, and ignited her belongings. They also vandalized another victim's home, owned by Sukhdev Singh. The police have registered a case against Singh and five others under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the SC and ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989.
