Sukhbir Badal, the president of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), addressed a rally in Hoshiarpur, Punjab, where he outlined his party's plans for the Kandi belt if they are elected to power. He proposed the creation of a Kandi area development ministry aimed at the overall development of the region. As part of this initiative, he announced a special industrial package that would include power and tax subsidies, as well as the construction of twin highways connecting Pathankot to Chandigarh and Amritsar to Anandpur Sahib, which would significantly improve road connectivity. Badal criticized the current Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, for what he described as a deteriorating law and order situation and alleged neglect of the people of Punjab. He claimed that Mann was prioritizing the agenda of AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal over local issues. Badal also highlighted the need for transparency regarding the ₹1.5 lakh crore investment promised during the AAP's tenure, revealing that only ₹2,600 crore had materialized. He emphasized his vision for Punjab, which includes establishing a world skill university in each district to train one lakh youth annually, asserting that previous SAD leadership had effectively managed power and infrastructure issues in the state.
