In a bid to accelerate compensation for farmers displaced by the Noida International Airport expansion, the district administration has launched daily camps across 14 villages in Jewar, Uttar Pradesh. Starting April 3, these camps will allow farmers to receive compensation at an increased rate of ₹4,300 per square meter, up from the previous ₹3,100. This initiative aims to eliminate the lengthy paperwork process that previously delayed payouts by up to a week. District Magistrate Medha Roopam emphasized that the camps will ensure transparency and speed in compensation distribution. Each camp will feature officials who will verify documents and process payments on the same day, significantly reducing the time required for compensation processing. As of September 2025, the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has disbursed over ₹8,000 crore to approximately 7,000 farmers for land acquired in earlier phases of the project. Reports indicate that many farmers have successfully reinvested their compensation, leading to economic transformation in the region, with new homes and increased spending on education and vehicles reflecting the newfound wealth.
