In Salumber, Udaipur district, Rajasthan, six children aged between two and four years have tragically died from an unknown illness, with 25 others hospitalized. The deceased exhibited symptoms such as fever, vomiting, and breathing difficulties. Block Chief Health and Medical Officer (BCMO) Sintu Kumawat reported that health teams are actively screening children from local schools and anganwadis, having collected samples from over 1,000 children. Families of the deceased have declined autopsies, which could have helped identify the cause of the illness. Local sarpanch Nand Lal criticized the decision to release the bodies without conducting postmortems. Health officials from Udaipur and Jaipur have arrived to assist in the investigation, collecting blood, stool, and saliva samples from children across 561 households. The situation remains critical as medical teams work to trace the source of the outbreak.
