Sunil Lahri, who portrayed Lakshman in Ramanand Sagar's classic TV series Ramayan, has shared his thoughts on the upcoming film adaptation directed by Nitesh Tiwari, featuring Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram. Lahri hopes the film will be a landmark representation of the mythological epic, but he expressed concerns that Kapoor's performance lacks the 'innocence' associated with Lord Ram. Despite acknowledging Kapoor's talent, Lahri noted that the emotional depth necessary for the character seems missing, particularly in a key scene where Ram steps into the light. He described the teaser's visuals as resembling a 'beautiful painting' but warned that without emotional resonance, the film could feel hollow. Lahri also criticized the depiction of demons in the film, suggesting they appeared more like characters from a Hollywood sci-fi movie rather than traditional representations. The film, produced by Prime Focus Studios and set to release during Diwali 2026, aims to authentically portray one of India's most enduring epics.
