IndiGo Airlines has announced a revision in fuel charges for all bookings made from April 2, 2026, due to a dramatic increase in aviation fuel prices. According to the International Air Transport Association (IATA), Air Turbine Fuel (ATF) prices have surged over 130% month-on-month, reaching a record high of ₹2.07 lakh per kilolitre. In response, IndiGo will adjust its domestic fuel charges based on distance bands, with fees ranging from ₹275 for routes up to 500 km to ₹950 for distances exceeding 2,000 km. For international flights, charges will increase significantly, with fees starting at ₹900 for short-haul routes and going up to ₹10,000 for flights to Europe. The airline expressed appreciation for the government's role in mitigating the impact of rising fuel costs and stated that it has only partially passed the increased costs onto passengers to maintain affordability in air travel. IndiGo will continue to monitor fuel prices and may make further adjustments as necessary.
