A devastating fire broke out in Kasauli's Heritage Market, located in Solan district, Himachal Pradesh, on Monday morning, resulting in the destruction of eight shops and an estimated loss of ₹3 crore (approximately $360,000 USD). The fire started around 4 am, reportedly due to a short circuit in an eatery, and quickly spread to adjacent shops, exacerbated by the explosion of multiple LPG cylinders. Firefighters from Parwanoo, Bangli, and Solan worked for nearly five hours to control the flames, finally bringing the situation under control by 10:30 am. Among the shops destroyed was the Narinder Bun Samosa shop, a historical landmark known for its simple yet popular bun-sam delicacy, which has attracted numerous celebrities over the years. Local residents expressed their anger over the incident, citing negligence and the impact of the explosions on firefighting efforts. In response, the district administration provided immediate relief of ₹25,000 to each affected shopkeeper. The Heritage Market, established in the 19th century, has long served as a hub for local business and tourism, showcasing colonial architecture and traditional handicrafts.
