On Thursday, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann inaugurated the Sant Attar Singh Ji Maharaj Hospital in Cheema village, marking a significant enhancement in local healthcare infrastructure. The 30-bed facility, constructed at a cost of ₹11.70 crore (approximately $1.4 million USD), is expected to benefit around 50,000 people across 15 villages. Mann highlighted that previously, patients had to travel to Sangrur, Patiala, and Ludhiana for treatment, but now they can access modern medical services locally. The hospital is equipped with advanced machines and includes dedicated emergency and mother-child wards. Mann also announced plans for a medical college to be named after Sant Baba Attar Singh, aimed at improving medical education in the region. The facility offers various medical services, including pediatric care, ENT, dental services, and free maternal and child healthcare. The Chief Minister emphasized the ongoing anti-drug campaign, stating that significant progress has been made against drug trafficking in Punjab.
