On Wednesday, a court in Panaji, Goa, granted bail to Saurabh Luthra and Gaurav Luthra, the owners of the nightclub Birch by Romeo Lane, in a forgery case involving the use of a fake no-objection certificate (NOC) to obtain operating permissions. The Judicial Magistrate First Class (Mapusa), Jude Sequeira, approved the bail, allowing the brothers to be released from jail. Their legal representative, Advocate Parag Rao, confirmed that the brothers will need to report to the Mapusa police station for five days. This case is separate from the earlier bail they received regarding a tragic fire at their nightclub on December 6, 2022, which claimed the lives of 25 individuals. Following the incident, the Luthras fled to Thailand but were deported back to India and arrested. The forgery allegations arose after a health officer claimed his signature was forged to secure a health NOC, prompting a broader investigation into fire safety and licensing violations at the nightclub.
