The state assembly comprises 234 seats, and the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) party, led by Chief Minister MK Stalin, currently holds 159 seats. Key constituencies include Edappadi, represented by AIADMK leader Edappadi K Palaniswami, which is vital for the AIADMK's resurgence. In Tiruchirappalli East, actor-turned-politician Vijay is contesting against incumbent DMK MLA Inigo Irudayaraj. Kolathur is another critical seat, where Stalin aims for re-election after three terms. Dr. Radhakrishnan Nagar, once an AIADMK bastion, is now a DMK stronghold, represented by J. John Ebenezer. Lastly, Coimbatore South will see a contest between DMK’s V Senthilbalaji and AIADMK's Amman K. Arjunan, with the latter confident of a significant victory margin.
