During a campaign in Dindigul district, Tamil Nadu, DMK MP K. Kanimozhi criticized the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) for allegedly neglecting the interests of Tamil people. She called on voters to respond in the upcoming 2026 Assembly elections against those who do not prioritize the welfare of Tamil Nadu. Kanimozhi accused AIADMK leader Edappadi K. Palaniswami of betraying both the people and his party, asserting that under the DMK government, several welfare initiatives, particularly for women, were successfully implemented. She pledged that these programs would continue if the DMK is re-elected. Furthermore, she condemned the BJP for its handling of various crises, including the COVID-19 pandemic and the demonetization period, where citizens faced hardships. Kanimozhi also criticized the BJP-led Central government for not releasing funds owed to Tamil Nadu and for undermining local governance through changes to the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA). She expressed skepticism about the intentions of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, suggesting they were more interested in visiting Tamil Nadu as tourists rather than addressing pressing local issues.
