Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia announced the Gwalior-Agra Green Field Expressway project, which will cost ₹5,500 crore (approximately $660 million USD) and reduce the travel distance by 32 kilometers. This new high-speed corridor will transform the current two-lane road into a six-lane expressway, allowing vehicles to travel at a minimum speed of 100 km/h. The journey from Agra to Gwalior, which currently takes 2.5 to 3 hours, will be shortened to just 45 to 50 minutes. Scindia emphasized that the expressway will feature limited entry and exit points to ensure smooth traffic flow, with only four major points along the route. Additionally, a 28-km western bypass costing ₹1,400 crore will connect Shivpuri, enhancing accessibility between major cities. The combined projects in the Gwalior-Chambal region are valued at ₹7,000 crore, which includes the construction of a modern railway station in Gwalior at a cost of ₹600 crore. These developments are expected to create new opportunities for investment, employment, and business in the region.
