Khushbaz Singh Jattana, aged 45, a former president of the Punjab Congress Bathinda (rural) unit, was tragically killed in a hit-and-run accident near the Jakhauli toll plaza in Sonepat, Haryana, on Thursday evening. The incident occurred around 6:15 PM when Jattana, along with his driver, Parminder Singh, and a local mechanic, were attempting to fix a flat tire on their Defender SUV. A speeding truck rammed into them, resulting in the immediate deaths of Jattana and Singh, while Harandeep Singh, Jattana's gunman, sustained serious injuries and was hospitalized. The truck driver fled the scene, abandoning the vehicle, and local police have initiated an investigation to apprehend him. Jattana had previously served as chairman in the Punjab government and had contested elections unsuccessfully twice from the Talwandi Sabo assembly segment in Bathinda district.
