Delhi Police filed a murder case on Thursday regarding the death of a 19-year-old woman in Tihar village, after officials intervened to halt her burial. The postmortem conducted at Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital confirmed that she had been smothered to death. The investigation began when a cousin of the victim's friend alerted the police about the suspicious circumstances surrounding her death. According to DCP Sharad Bhaskar, the victim's family is being questioned as preliminary findings suggest they were against her relationship with a relative. Neighbors reported that the woman had been locked inside her house for four days and allegedly assaulted by her family. They claimed her family conducted last rites before police arrived to take custody of the body. Further interrogation of the family members is ongoing as the investigation unfolds.
