The Ludhiana district administration has implemented new relief measures to enhance access to liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) for migrant workers. Eligible individuals can now obtain 2kg and 5kg free trade LPG cylinders by presenting valid identification. This initiative aims to ensure a consistent supply of cooking fuel for vulnerable labor groups while addressing broader distribution challenges affecting households, commercial establishments, and industrial units. A control room has been established at the GLADA (Greater Ludhiana Area Development Authority) office, operational from 9 am to 5:30 pm, to manage LPG supply disruptions. A dedicated helpline, 9915155072, has been activated for grievance redressal and assistance. Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain stated that the administration is coordinating with gas agencies and oil marketing companies to streamline supply and resolve consumer complaints. To ensure compliance, food supply inspectors are conducting routine inspections of gas agencies. A structured system for regulated LPG allocation to industrial and commercial units has also been introduced, with partial restoration based on availability. Violations will be met with strict action under the Essential Commodities Act, and a district-level committee is overseeing the equitable distribution of LPG across all categories.
