On Friday evening, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor's convoy was obstructed in Malappuram district, Kerala, while he was en route to an election campaign event for fellow Congress leader AP Anilkumar. The incident occurred around 7:30 PM near the Chellithode bridge in Thiruvali, where a five-member group allegedly attacked Tharoor's gunman and driver after blocking the vehicle. Police have registered a case at the Wandoor Police Station based on a complaint from Tharoor's gunman, Ratheesh K P. Following the attack, one suspect has been taken into custody, and investigations are ongoing. Tharoor later reassured the public via a post on X, stating he was unharmed and thanking supporters for their concern. The incident comes just days before Kerala's single-phase assembly elections scheduled for April 9, with vote counting on May 4.
