In Kozhikode district, Kerala, the home voting initiative for the 2026 Assembly elections has successfully reached over 50% of eligible voters, which includes senior citizens aged above 85 and differently abled individuals. By April 4, 2026, all 19,754 eligible voters are expected to be accommodated. On the first day alone, more than 3,000 voters utilized this service. Election authorities have indicated that voters who opt for home voting will not be permitted to vote at polling booths. Each of the 13 assembly constituencies has been assigned a special team comprising polling officials, observers, and police to ensure smooth operations. The initiative has received positive feedback, with many senior voters appreciating the care and clarity provided during the voting process. In total, 7,870 elderly voters and 11,884 differently abled voters are eligible for home voting, reflecting a significant outreach effort in the district. Across Kerala, the home voting facility has allowed over 1.42 lakh elderly and differently abled voters to cast their votes from home.
