Actor-politician Ramya (Divya Spandana) broke down during a protest at Freedom Park in Bengaluru, where animal welfare activists gathered to voice their outrage over the alleged illegal capture of community dogs from the DRDO Phase 2 campus in Kaggadasapura. The protest, organized by the CV Raman Nagar Animal Squad, followed a disturbing incident on March 5, where residents intercepted a truck containing three dogs bound and stuffed into bags. While these dogs were rescued, more than 20 other dogs are reported missing. A complaint has been filed, and an FIR is registered at the Mahadevapura police station, with the case currently before the High Court, where the next hearing is set for April 16. Ramya expressed her distress over the incident, stating, “It makes my blood boil,” and called for responsible actions from institutions. Activists highlighted the incident's connection to the alleged misuse of Supreme Court directives regarding street dogs, which they argue has led to increased cruelty. Senior activist Priya Chetty Rajagopal noted the extensive network of citizen-led animal care groups in Bengaluru, emphasizing their commitment to humane treatment and accountability in animal welfare.
