Parents of students at Delhi Public School (DPS) in Dwarka, New Delhi, protested outside the school on Wednesday after the administration struck off the names of 25 students due to non-payment of fees. The school issued a notice stating that the action was taken in accordance with Rule 35 of the Delhi School Education Act and Rules, 1973, effective from April 7, 2026. Parents, including Chandan Kumar, whose children are in classes 3 and 7, argued that the school has implemented an unauthorized fee hike that violates a recent interim order from the Delhi High Court. This order directed the school to charge only the base fees plus 50% of any approved hike. Furthermore, the Department of Education (DoE) had previously rejected the school's fee hike proposal for the 2023-2024 academic year, revealing that the school had collected an extra ₹22.5 crore (approximately $2.7 million USD) from parents. Despite the court's directive to refund this amount, parents allege that the school has not complied. Attempts to reach the school for comment went unanswered.
