Manoj Sinha, the lieutenant governor of Jammu and Kashmir, has issued a strong warning to drug traffickers, stating that all legal options will be utilized to dismantle cross-border drug trafficking networks. He announced severe punitive measures, including the confiscation of properties and the cancellation of driving licenses, passports, and Aadhaar cards of those involved in drug trafficking. During a gathering at MA Stadium, Sinha emphasized the need for immediate action against drug smugglers, particularly due to the alarming rise of drug abuse in border areas, which he attributed to narcotics being pushed from Pakistan via drones.

Sinha is leading a 100-day campaign called 'Nasha Mukt Abhiyaan' (Drug-Free Campaign) aimed at creating awareness and engaging the community in combating drug addiction. The campaign will unfold in six phases, including awareness drives and strict enforcement measures. However, the initial padyatra disrupted normal life in Jammu city, causing significant traffic jams and frustration among citizens, some of whom were delayed in reaching medical appointments. Critics argue that such events should focus more on border areas where drug issues are more severe. Sinha urged community leaders and youth to participate actively in the campaign, highlighting the personal stories behind addiction statistics.
