On April 5, a government bus belonging to the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) caught fire in Kadapa district, Andhra Pradesh, after coming into contact with a low-hanging high-tension electric wire on the Vempalli–Rayachoti main road. Fortunately, the bus driver, conductor, and all passengers were safely evacuated without any injuries. According to Pulivendula Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Murli Naik, sparks ignited upon contact with the wire, leading to a fire that damaged both the bus and the electrical line. Initial investigations indicate possible negligence by the roadwork contractor, the electricity department, and the National Highways Authority, as the elevation of the road brought high-tension wires dangerously close to traffic. The electricity department also failed to implement necessary safety measures despite the reduced clearance. Police are currently in the process of filing a case related to the incident.
