Bachchu Kadu, the chief of the Prahar Janshakti Party and former minister in Maharashtra, has been booked for criminal conspiracy regarding the alleged plot to murder Abhijit Tayade, a cousin of BJP MLA Pravin Tayade. The complaint was filed after Abhijit Tayade accused Kadu of orchestrating a staged road accident to eliminate him as a political rival. This rivalry intensified following the 2024 Assembly elections, where Pravin Tayade defeated Kadu by over 12,000 votes. The conspiracy was reportedly discussed during a meeting at Kadu's residence in Kuralpurna in December 2022, with the involvement of aides, including Shubham Mahore. A confidential witness recorded Kadu allegedly stating the murder would cost ₹2–3 lakhs (approximately $2,400–$3,600 USD) and that it could be made to look like an accident. The police have registered a case against Kadu and his associates under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Kadu has dismissed the allegations as baseless and politically motivated, asserting that he will continue with his planned activities, including an Everest Base Camp expedition. The police are currently verifying the audio evidence through forensic analysis.
