Arvind Kejriwal, the former Chief Minister of Delhi, is likely to appear before the Delhi High Court on Monday to seek the recusal of Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma from his excise policy case. This case involves a challenge to a trial court's February 27 ruling that discharged Kejriwal and 22 other accused from allegations related to a corruption scandal involving the excise liquor policy. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is appealing this decision. Justice Sharma's roster handles criminal cases concerning Members of Parliament and Legislative Assemblies. Three applications, including one from Kejriwal, have been filed requesting Justice Sharma's recusal, citing concerns over impartiality. On March 9, the High Court stayed certain observations made by the trial court, indicating discrepancies in its findings. Kejriwal and former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia had previously sought to transfer the case to another bench, but this request was denied, leading to an appeal currently pending before the Supreme Court.
