In New Delhi, police have arrested Shashikant Sharma and Deepak for allegedly cheating a man out of ₹7 lakh (approximately $8,400 USD) through a fraudulent stock investment scheme. The scheme was operated via a social media app, where the victim was initially lured with promises of high returns and free stock recommendations. The fraudsters posed as representatives of a legitimate firm, eventually persuading the victim to invest money. Upon attempting to withdraw his funds, the victim discovered he had been deceived. Investigations revealed that the accused were part of a larger cyber fraud syndicate that targeted victims through social media, utilizing multiple bank accounts to facilitate the transfer of illicit funds. Police have linked 29 complaints to this syndicate and are continuing their investigation to uncover additional members and recover the remaining defrauded amounts.
