The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has called for the arrest of Sabina Yeasmin, Minister of State for North Bengal Development, following an incident in Malda district, West Bengal, where seven judicial officers were gheraoed by protesters. BJP leaders, including Suvendu Adhikari and Shamik Bhattacharya, described the incident as a 'planned attack' orchestrated by the Trinamool Congress (TMC) to disrupt electoral processes. Adhikari alleged that the TMC leadership in Kolkata, under Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, was behind the incident, with Yeasmin executing the plan locally. The BJP has raised concerns about a 'silent demographic invasion' and illegal infiltration affecting Bengal's social structure. Additionally, veteran TMC MLA Kanai Mondal recently joined the BJP, which the party views as a significant boost to its organizational strength in north Bengal. BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia criticized the TMC government for creating an unsafe environment, claiming that the judiciary is under threat in the state. The BJP is demanding immediate action against those involved in the Malda incident and a thorough investigation.
