The Gujarat High Court has directed election authorities to reinstate Sanjay Gadhavi in the electoral roll for the upcoming Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) elections, acknowledging his digital signature as a valid form of application. The court's decision comes after Gadhavi's name was removed during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process conducted by the Election Commission of India. Justice N S S Gowda and Justice J L Odedra heard Gadhavi's petition, which challenged the April 6 rejection of his request to be included in the voter list for Ward No. 44 (Khokhara). The court ordered that Gadhavi's name be added to the electoral roll, allowing him to vote in the AMC elections, with the final date for filing nominations set for April 11. Gadhavi's name was originally part of the electoral roll but was deleted during the SIR process. He had reapplied and received confirmation of his application, including a digital acknowledgment. The State Election Commission (SEC) had argued that Gadhavi's name was not in the revised list prepared on February 17, which was the basis for the preliminary voter list published on March 23. However, the court found that Gadhavi had a right to be included in the electoral roll, emphasizing the validity of his digital signature and prior acknowledgments from the SEC.
