The opening day of Mumbai Metro's Line 2B (Mandale-Diamond Garden) and Line 9 (Kashigaon-Dahisar East) revealed contrasting outcomes. Line 2B struggled to attract passengers, with trains often running empty due to its limited connectivity, only serving Mankhurd station and running at a frequency of one train every nine-and-a-half minutes. In contrast, Line 9 was met with enthusiasm, as trains operated at full capacity, highlighting the demand for improved transport options in the western suburbs. Commuters expressed relief at avoiding traffic and dust while traveling, with many eager to utilize the new line for their daily commutes. However, the launch has negatively impacted last-mile transport services, as share-cabs and autorickshaws reported a significant drop in passengers. Additionally, commuters noted some initial issues on Line 9, such as insufficient seating and waste disposal facilities. The integrated Metro 7 and 9 corridor will run 276 trips on weekdays, with services every five-and-a-half minutes during peak hours.
