A 14-year-old girl from Kerala, Sri Nanda, has been missing for over 24 hours after she disappeared during a hike with around 40 relatives in the Chandradrona hill range in Karnataka on April 7. She was last seen around 5:30 PM when darkness fell, prompting her family to file a police complaint on April 8 after initial search efforts proved unsuccessful. The police have since launched an extensive search operation, utilizing ropes and drones to navigate the difficult terrain. This incident comes shortly after another case involving a tech professional from Kerala, GS Sharanya, who was missing for four days while trekking in Karnataka. In response to these incidents, the Karnataka government is planning to introduce a Standard Operating Procedure for trekking, which includes a temporary tracking app for trekkers' mobile phones to enhance safety and facilitate quick location in case of emergencies.
