The Karnataka Pre-university College Lecturers’ Association has formally petitioned the state government for exemption from census duties, citing an overwhelming workload due to upcoming examinations and training sessions. Lecturers have been designated as enumerators for the census, with training conducted in three phases from April 1 to April 9. The household census is set to take place from April 15 to May 15. Concurrently, the school education department is conducting online classes for II PU students in preparation for competitive entrance exams, which have led to a temporary suspension of these classes. With several key examinations scheduled, including the CET on April 23-24 and NEET on May 3, the association's president, Ningegowda A H, has highlighted the significant burden on lecturers and urged the government to reconsider their involvement in the census.
