The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has granted a total of ₹90 lakh (approximately $108,000 USD) to faculty members at Assam Royal Global University (RGU) in Guwahati, India, to support four innovative research projects. The recipients include Sudarshana Borah, who will validate the medicinal uses of Kali Haldi in her project titled, “Tradition to Therapeutics: Kali Haldi-Based Antibacterial Ointment from Northeast India.” Dharmeswar Barhoi is leading a study titled, “Exploring the Potential of Moringa oleifera Extract in Restoration of Smokeless Tobacco-Induced Epigenetic Alterations in Swiss Albino Mice.” Anirban Banik's research will focus on the cardioprotective effects of DMPO, a potent free radical scavenger. Lastly, Priyanka Bhattacharyya will investigate the anti-diabetic potential of dietary fiber extracted from the banana pseudostem of Assam’s native Bhim Kol variety. This funding aims to enhance advanced medical and translational research at RGU.
