The Bombay High Court has ordered Sahara Hospitality Limited (SHL), which operates Hotel Sahara Star near Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai, to deposit ₹23.89 crore in court to restore its water supply. This ruling stems from a dispute with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) over property tax arrears dating back to 2001. In an interim order, Chief Justice Shree Chandrashekhar and Justice Aarti Sathe stated that the water connection would be reinstated once SHL's director submits an undertaking to deposit the required amount within four weeks. The BMC had previously disconnected the water supply, claiming that SHL had violated property tax regulations and made illegal constructions. The court has stayed the BMC's demand notices until the next hearing and has allowed the BMC four weeks to respond to SHL's claims. The case is scheduled for further hearing in six weeks.
