The Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) celebrated the sanctioning of a historic tunnel connecting Machil and Kupwara in Jammu and Kashmir, India. This project, which locals have dreamed of since Independence, aims to enhance connectivity for Machil, a remote area often cut off from the rest of the region for five to six months due to harsh weather. AIP's chief spokesman, Inam Un Nabi, highlighted the tireless efforts of Member of Parliament Er Rashid, who, despite being incarcerated in Tihar jail, continues to advocate for his constituency. Un Nabi noted that Er Rashid bears significant expenses to attend Parliament and remains committed to public welfare. A young resident of Machil expressed that the community did not vote for Er Rashid out of sympathy but for his commitment to development, reinforcing the belief that his election to Parliament would lead to transformative changes for the region. In addition to the tunnel, other projects, such as the fencing of a local school and road construction, have also been approved, signaling a positive shift for the community.
