Sasmit Patra, a Biju Janata Dal (BJD) MP, has urged Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi to revive the Bhubaneswar Metro Rail Project, which was recently put on hold due to feasibility concerns. In a letter, Patra suggested adopting the funding model used for the Jaipur Metro, which involves a 50:50 cost-sharing arrangement between the central and state governments. He highlighted that the Odisha Metro project, with an estimated cost of ₹6,255 crore (approximately $750 million USD), is less than half the scale of the Jaipur Metro.
