Punjab's local government minister Sanjeev Arora announced the extension of the One Time Settlement (OTS) Scheme for improvement trusts until April 30, 2026. This scheme provides a 50% rebate on non-construction fees, aimed at easing financial burdens on property owners. The government reported that house tax collection for FY 2025-26 has increased to ₹600 crore from ₹500 crore in the previous fiscal year, indicating improved efficiency in urban local bodies. Significant investments are being made in urban infrastructure, including repairs of 2,120 kilometers of roads at a cost of ₹1,300 crore, with completion targeted by May 2026. Furthermore, the modernization of fire services will involve an investment of ₹131 crore, while sewerage projects worth ₹450 crore are already in progress. The government is also focusing on water management, with ₹700 crore allocated for surface water projects and plans for 30 Water Treatment Plants worth approximately ₹800 crore.
