England pacer Brydon Carse has been ruled out of the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) due to a hand injury sustained during practice. Sunrisers Hyderabad has named Dilshan Madushanka, a Sri Lankan left-arm pacer, as his replacement for the remainder of the tournament. Madushanka joins the franchise for ₹75 lakh (approximately $90,000 USD) and has prior IPL experience with the Mumbai Indians. Carse, who was acquired for ₹1 crore (approximately $120,000 USD), had missed the initial five matches of the season. Sunrisers head coach Daniel Vettori had initially hoped for Carse's return, but the IPL governing council confirmed his absence on April 15. Meanwhile, team captain Pat Cummins is set to undergo a fitness test in Australia, and if successful, will join the squad in India. The Sunrisers have won two of their five matches so far, recently defeating the Rajasthan Royals by 57 runs.
