The Bensalem School Board has appointed Victoria Velazquez as the interim schools superintendent, succeeding Samuel Lee, who resigned in March 2023 amid reports of a severe financial situation within the district. Velazquez, who previously served as the assistant to the superintendent for K-12 administration, was sworn in by Judge Charissa Liller of the Bucks County Court of Common Pleas. School Board Director Leann Hart expressed gratitude for Velazquez's leadership during this transitional period, while Director Rachel Fingles praised her deep understanding of the district and her commitment to students and staff. Lee had been with the district since July 2015 and had received a new four-year contract last year. The details of his contract extension were not disclosed.
