The government of Uttarakhand has announced a 26% increase in the quota for commercial LPG cylinders, raising it to 66%. This adjustment will enable the distribution of 6,310 cylinders daily to support various sectors, especially during the Chardham Yatra, a significant pilgrimage season. The State Secretary for Food and Civil Supplies, Anand Swarup, shared that the new Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) aims to ensure a balanced and transparent distribution among consumers. Allocations include 1,500 cylinders for tourism-related establishments, 2,000 cylinders for restaurants, and provisions for 300 cylinders for government guest houses. Additionally, 660 cylinders will be available for wedding ceremonies, with a maximum of two cylinders allowed per event. The framework is designed to facilitate uninterrupted services across critical sectors such as tourism, healthcare, and industry, ensuring that essential services are maintained during peak demand periods.
